We make the tools we want to use ourselves.

The greatest asset of a small studio is that it decides for itself what to do. We do not hand that choice to anyone else.

Wanting is not an excuse but a standard. Work begun out of obligation stops where it is asked to; work we chose goes on until it is right. A finished piece we believe in outlasts any deadline.

But for wanting not to turn into indulgence, some things have to hold. These four.

01Point to the next step

A tool that only says something is wrong does half its job. Someone who is stuck needs the next step, not a verdict. Error messages, documentation and even empty screens go through the same question: what should the person who sees this do now?

02Keep one source of truth

Truth kept in several places will one day disagree with itself. We keep one reference and check everything else against it. With a firm reference, the rest is free to be fast.

03Small, and finished

Adding is easy; taking away is hard. We choose a size that fits in one head and refine it to the end. A small core keeps explanations short and makes mistakes easy to find.

04Use what we make

A tool its makers do not use keeps its rough edges unseen. We work on top of what we build, so we meet the rough edges first and fix them.
